about

After weeks of traveling to the Mizari system, a scientist who goes by Dr. Amelia Biryukov finally lands at her destination on Mizar III. Immediately after setting up camp, she gets to work. The planet is said to have once been occupied by an advanced civilization known as the U'fu, although some kind of apocalypse had turned the planet uninhabitable over a hundred years ago. As a scientist, Amelia is interested in studying the planet, confirming the existence of the civilization, and hypothesizing what happened to them. The planet appears deserted but with many obvious signs of civilization: abandoned structures, various writing systems, art styles, and even old food remnants. The stories of this civilization appear to be true, but what is not found anywhere are any signs of a species that has gone extinct. There are old grave sites, but no signs of a species in turmoil as they were supposedly decimated by catastrophe. Amelia hypothesizes that the species must have all been able to evacuate the planet before the apocalyptic event occurred. After a long day, Amelia returns to camp and begins to listen to some field tapes she recorded of the planet's atmosphere. It's not long before she realizes something very strange. Is this just a weird cosmic echo of what used to be? Are they ghosts? Or do they possibly still exist here in another form? After many days of further analysis, it does seem that the past occupants of this planet are still here, possibly existing in another realm that can only be accessed through unknown means. Only after listening to more tape recordings, Amelia realizes that not only can she hear the beings, but the beings also appear to be aware of her presence on the planet. Unknown to how they escaped and took refuge in this other realm, Amelia attempts to make first contact.

Silent Travelers is the ambient alias of New York-based composer Brian Lee. Silent Travelers was born as a means of storytelling through the sensory experiences of who Brian refers to as silent travelers. Using a combination of field recordings and synthesizers, the narratives are imaginative, yet told entirely through atmospheric textures and dreamy ambient soundscapes. ... more
